Dr. Diana Fernandez
World-class Neurologist in Lafayette

BMM is proud to introduce our newest Neurologist in the Lafayette area, Dr. Diana Fernandez. Dr. Fernandez has studied and practiced medicine all over the world, and has now brought her services to the Lafayette area. She began her higher education in 1985 at the Ecole Lemania  in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she received a diploma in French Language. From there, she studied Pre-med at the University of Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany, graduating in 1988. She then traveled to Bogota, Colombia to earn her M.D. from the Juan N. Corpas School of Medicine. She ranked 8th in her class of over 200 when she graduated in 1994. After serving the Colombian national army as an Army Physician, and becoming Medical Director at the Rubi Medical Center in Santafe de Bogota, Colombia, she decided to travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to complete an internship and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Neurology and Internal Medicine.

After completion of her residency, in 2003, she moved to South Carolina to practice as a Neurologist out of the South Carolina Neurological Clinic. During that time she was also a Staff Neurologist at multiple local hospitals. In 2006, Dr. Fernandez chose to move down to Lafayette, to take a Neurologist position at Lafayette Health Ventures Incorporated, and lend her services as a Staff Neurologist at Lafayette General. After 3 years there, she decided to branch out on her own, and now operates a private practice at the Lafayette Bone and Joint Clinic building at 1103 Kaliste Saloom Rd. She is also a Staff Neurologist at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. She is also a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Fernandez also writes children’s literature, earlier this summer she published her first book “Little Chickadee.”
